A woman was killed by a train near the railroad crossing at Hogback Hill Road in Palmyra on Tuesday morning.
Wayne County Sheriff Barry Virts told local media that a woman drove her vehicle onto the tracks, waiting for the train. He added that the CSX train was working properly when the accident happened. The vehicle was pushed about a quarter-mile down the track by the westbound CSX train after the initial collision.
According to reporting from Wayne County, the woman killed on Monday has been identified as Heidi Sevor, 52, of Phelps.
Sevor was arrested in July, according to the Times of Wayne County for allegedly taking $318 worth of merchandise from the Macedon Walmart. After she was arrested, seven hypodermic needles were found in the purse she was carrying.
She was charged with petit larceny and criminal possession of a hypodermic needle.
The area was shut down to traffic for three hours as crews worked to investigate and cleanup the scene.
